For customer research

Turn a week of customer conversations into findings you can stand behind.

Interviews in the room or on a call, replies to your survey, a thread from your support team. Parley writes each one up, answers questions across all of them, and shows the notes behind every answer.

A research week

One week of research, three ways in

Maya is a product marketer at Halvern, a booking app for clinics. This week she wants to know why new clinics stall in their first month.

  1. Monday Phone

An interview at a dental practice

Maya puts her phone on the desk and talks to the practice manager. Parley writes it up as user research, with behaviours, workarounds and the manager's own words.

  2. Tuesday Browser

    Two discovery calls on Zoom

She records both calls from the Parley web app, and no bot joins. Each note keeps the pain points, the current setup and the buying signals.

  3. Wednesday Email

    Survey replies by email

Clinics answer her survey by email. She forwards the thread to her private Parley address, and it becomes a note with a summary, open questions and every message in order.

  4. Thursday Slack

    A thread from support

Support has been discussing export timeouts in Slack. Maya reacts to the thread with 📝, and it comes into Parley ready to summarize with a tap.

  5. Friday Laptop

    Ask across the week

She asks for the top objections this month. The answer lists the notes it drew on: an interview, a call, the survey replies and the Slack thread.

  6. Friday Laptop

    Findings into her report

She copies the answer into her findings brief, opens the source notes for the best quotes and builds her own slides from there.

Written up for research

Interviews written up the way researchers read them

Parley recognises a user research interview or a customer discovery call and writes it up with the sections you would otherwise pull out by hand.

  • User research: pain points, behaviours, workarounds, needs and hypotheses
  • Customer discovery: pain points, current solution, needs and buying signals
  • Both keep what customers said in their own words, ready to quote

Parley picks the occasion on its own. Want a call written up the other way? Rewrite it as another occasion whenever you like.

Three ways in

Interviews, email replies and Slack threads, side by side

Research does not only happen in interviews. Forward customer replies to your Parley address and react to a Slack thread with 📝, and both become notes next to your recordings.

  • A forwarded thread becomes a note with a summary, open questions and every message, oldest first
  • Parley accepts mail only from your own address and senders you add, and never reads your inbox
  • Slack threads come in when you react with 📝, with read-only access and no bot
Ask, then report

Ask the whole week one question, then take the answer to your report

Ask Parley in plain words. It answers across interviews, calls, emails and Slack threads, and lists the notes the answer came from so you can open each one. Parley does not make slides: it gives you the findings, the quotes and the sources for your own deck or report.

  • Every answer lists the notes it drew on
  • Share or copy an answer, or save it as a task
  • Open a source note to lift a quote in the customer's own words
Ask Parley
What are the top objections this month?
Three come up again and again. Setup takes longer than clinics expect, mostly rebuilding staff calendars. Exports time out for larger practices, which support is already tracking. And small practices want room booking before they commit.

Phone and laptop

In the room and on the call

Interview in the room with the phone on the table, or record a call from your browser. Sign in with the same account on both and every note sits in one place.

Phone app

Records in the room with the phone on the table. It keeps recording with the screen off, and you can start from the lock screen. Free on Google Play.

Get it on Google Play

Needs a 64-bit phone on Android 7 or newer. For a smooth experience we recommend Android 10+, 4 GB of RAM and 1 GB of free storage.

Web app and browser extensions

Record Teams, Meet or Zoom calls in Chrome or Edge on Windows or Mac, with a notepad and Ask Parley beside the call. The Chrome and Edge extensions record the call tab. Recording calls in the web app or with the extensions needs Plus. Your notes and Ask Parley work in any browser, on every plan.

Add the web browser extensions from the web store: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Questions before your next round of research

Does Parley read my inbox or my Slack?

It never reads your inbox: it only gets the email threads you forward. For Slack, you grant read-only access, and Parley imports only the threads you react to with 📝. From an email it reads the text, not the attachments.

Can Parley make the slides for my readout?

No. Parley gives you the findings, the quotes and the notes they came from, and you take them into your own deck or report.

Do I have to tell people I am recording?

Yes, wherever the law requires it, and in many places it does. Parley reminds you before your first recording, but telling your interviewees is your responsibility.

What does it cost?

The app is free on Google Play, with the iPhone app on the way. The pricing page shows what each plan includes and what it costs.

Bring your next interview to Parley.

Record it on the phone or in the browser, forward the replies, and ask across everything when it is time to write up.
