Complaints

Last updated: 15 September 2026 · How to complain about the way we handle personal data, or about the service itself. Applies to the Parley Android app, the Parley web app at app.parleynotes.com, the Parley browser extension for Chrome and Edge, and this website. Operated by Carbon Bridge Services B.V. ("we", "us"). This is the English text and it is the controlling version.

Complaining to us

Write to admin@parleynotes.com and put the word "complaint" in the subject line, so it is not read as an ordinary support question. If you would rather write on paper, our postal address is George Gershwinlaan 517, 1082 MT Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

You do not need a particular form of words. It helps us if you tell us:

• your name, and the email address on your Parley account. If you are not a Parley user but were recorded by one, give the name you were recorded under and the date, and see our page for people who were recorded.
• what happened, and when.
• what you would like us to do about it.
• anything that helps us find it: the date of a note, an invoice number, a screenshot.

What we do then

• We acknowledge your complaint within 30 days of receiving it. For users in the United Kingdom that is the duty in s. 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018, inserted by s. 103 of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. For everybody else it is our own promise, and we hold ourselves to the same 30 days.
• We investigate without undue delay, in a way that is proportionate to what you have raised.
• We keep you informed while we are doing it.
• We tell you the outcome, and what we have changed if we got something wrong.

Complaining to us never stops you going to a regulator. You do not have to come to us first, and you can go to a regulator while we are still looking at your complaint or after we have answered it.

Data protection authorities

If your complaint is about personal data, you can go to the supervisory authority where you live, or to ours. We are established in the Netherlands, so our lead authority is the Dutch one under Art. 56 GDPR.

• Brazil: Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, at gov.br/anpd.

Consumer bodies

If your complaint is about billing or about the service rather than about personal data, these are the consumer bodies in the countries where Parley is sold.

• Netherlands: ACM ConsuWijzer, consuwijzer.nl.
• Ireland: Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), ccpc.ie.
• Spain: Dirección General de Consumo, consumo.gob.es, or your local OMIC.
• United Kingdom: Citizens Advice consumer service, citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer, 0808 223 1133.
• Brazil: your local Procon, or consumidor.gov.br.

The EU online dispute resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025, so there is no longer a link to it. We would rather settle a dispute with you directly.

If you bought your subscription on Google Play, Google is the merchant of record for that purchase and Google's own refund and cancellation rules apply to it. Tell us anyway, because we would still like to know.

Our record of complaints

We keep a record of each complaint and of our answer for three years, so that we can show how it was handled. That is the complaints log s. 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018 expects, and we keep it the same way for everybody. It is listed in section 14 of our privacy policy.

Handling a complaint about your data is a legal obligation for UK users, Art. 6(1)(c) UK GDPR with s. 164A. For everybody else, it is our legitimate interest in answering you properly, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Changes

If we change this page we will update it here, and for a material change we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
